The Broken Self

A beautiful face without a name.
searching amidst the random crowd
for the broken pieces of her existence.

Scattered, tethered, somewhere lost around
waiting to be picked up, to be cleansed
to be gathered and put together in shape.

For she has no purpose in her life
hovering like a body without soul.

Always in a hope to be spared a glance
to cross someone's path for a fleeting trance
waiting for the hands to comfort her wailing heart.

Her sad face smeared with dust and black
longing to be washed off from the worries of life.

She waits and waits for all endless hours,
in vain, in despair, just to find a little space.
To put in place her lost self.
And to find a name for her beautiful face.

Story of a Solitary Lass

A lass all alone,
Being left on her own

For her fate crafted this way,
leaving in sorrow and dismay.

Bereft of emotion and love

Her eyes had seen enough

No care anywhere 'round

To heal her bleeding wound.

Despised of her own being

She left everyone, unseen

Not that anyone cared for a glance

Lonely and weak, she advanced on her trance

She met more odds that darkened her saddened face

Until a brave-heart took her in his warm embrace

A heart full of love, which meant no harm

Took her in the shelter of his long slender arm

Her smile became his joy, her anguish became his tear

He filled her heart with only love, driving away all fear

The solitary lass was never again left alone

To wander around, wounded, all on her own.

DROPS OF HEAVEN

A gloomy dark had broken my sleep

The silent air had stirred my deep.

Black clouds there were, all over the window!

Dull sun rays had casted weird long shadow.

Was it only, the nature’s melancholy?

Or the time itself, had passed too slowly?

Perturbed by the darkness, I searched about

A strike of bright light, amidst the cloud

A thunder suddenly shattered the still!

And I could see the drizzle, distant uphill.

Wet leaves, radiant flowers, mushy soft ground

A shower of pearl drops flooded all around.

The fragrance of nature, filled each of my breath

And I died in that happiness, the sweetest of my death!

One day with the Diva..

(The following narration is based upon pure imagination)

It was Sunday, the 20th of May'12. The clock struck 2300 hours. I started preparing my bed. Just then, my cell phone started ringing. I answered the call. It was my best friend on the other side of the phone. Her voice sounded so excited. She just said 2 sentences. "Esha, you got selected for the outdoor trip with the heart-throb of all, the Diva, Kyra! So pack your bags, and get going, as you just have a week's time for preparing!" On hearing this I got so happy! I was immensely thrilled. I started thinking about the various fun activities I would do with my favorite Diva. But sleep intervened my thought process and I rolled down on my bed. And then I started dreaming................

Its a beautiful sunny day. With the bright sun overhead, everything around us looks so welcoming. I need to hurry up to reach the beach just in time for the volleyball game. Let me have a look at my wardrobe. Which would be the best dress?? Umm... Something comfortable, easy to carry, yet trendy. Oh here I've got one! Just the perfect one. My beaded maroon sleeveless top and a pair of blue capris! So I just now need to put this on and apply a bit of my new Lakme Sun Expert. And here I am, all ready, to join Kyra and the gang ;)!!

.....................................................*..................................................
Its so bright outside. I need to spot Kyra first of all, and then the rest of the girls. Oh there they are, all dancing to the tunes of Vengaboys! The warm sand is glittering like gold, and the blue water is so calm. Such a lovely place to enjoy our vacation.

.....................................................*...................................................

I better buy lemonades first, everyone must be thirsty by now! Here is one shop. "Give me 6 bottles of lemonade. Here's the money." "Hey gals! I am here. Grab your drinks now!" "Oh Kyra, you look so trendy in this dress! Its so much fun over here. Lets play volley after this drink!"

.....................................................*...................................................

"Wow, that was a nice dive Kyra! Hey Sarah, watch your steps! Oh God, I'm so tired. Lets stop the game now!"

....................................................*....................................................

Rita: "It always feels heavenly to have a bite of your favorite chocolate cake, while  savoring the taste of roasted chicken, and soft music is being played by your side."
Sarah: "I totally agree with you. The mood gets better if you are lying down on the beach, and light breeze blows by!"
Kyra: "But girls, one thing we cannot deny! Summer was never so Fun before! All thanks to our new Lakme Sun Expert Range, and Esha of course, for coming up with this plan!"

.....................................................*...................................................

"But Kyra, where is this sound coming from? It sounds like an alarm clock. Where is it.......??????"

.....................................................*...................................................

I opened my eyes. Sun rays were playing on my rooftop and birds were chirping. It was 7 am.The lovely morning of May 21st, '12 greeted me. I wondered. So it was all a dream, huh?? I was so much happy with news of spending the coming weekend with Kyra, that I dreamt of all the Fun in one sleep! :). But no worries. I would definitely bring all those actions to reality and build many Fun memories. Wait for me Kyra!

THE VARIOUS REASONS TO DANCE............!!

There are short-cuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them. - Vicki Baum

.......... A very apt saying! DANCE is indeed the food for soul. It is something that can bring a smile to your face in an instant, and can fill your heart with a great joy. The very word floods ur brain with innumerable tunes, and your feet starts tapping. Ta Daa!..

But not all of us who dance, are professional dancers. Still we enjoy doing it. Why? Because, its a way of expressing your emotions! Dance can be the language of your love, your joy, even your sorrow. Dance can be your instrument of building up piles of memories. Dance can be a signature of your passion. Dance can be your revitalizing medicine. It can play a lot of roles indeed.

So when do we dance, specifically? Lets explore............

* Sister's marriage --> Bhangra party on Sangeet
* 1st love --> Close dance with your Beloved on the roof, in the rain
* Fresher's night @ college --> Rocking hip-hops with the DJ mix
* Celebration at office --> A Waltz with the team mate
* Idol immersion on Durga Puja --> Dancing at no absolute rhythm
* Long tiring day at school --> Music on, tapping starts
* Cultural function in the community --> A fusion of Kathak and Bharatnatyam
* Painful breakup --> Hours of dancing without any break, to keep the thought away
* Learning is fun --> Just a feet here, and a feet there
* AND SO ON......................

If somebody will ask me why do I dance? I will say, 'I dance to keep my soul alive, to let myself know that I have still some life left in me. I dance to feel happy. I dance to regain my lost being. This is why I dance'.

So, what is your idea of dancing?? :) :)

LOVE YOU MOM

I opened my eyes, your Face was the most beautiful thing to see... Radiant, Serene... In that instant, You became the First Love of my Life...

I stretched my hands, to feel your Warmth... You Embraced me in your arms... I tasted Heaven on this earth...Wrapped in the utmost Bliss...

I tried in vain, to sleep on my own... You stroked my hair, pulled me on your Lap... Your Soft Humming in my ears, lulled me to my Dreamland...

I took a step forward, my first attempt to walk... You came Running to hold my hand... Your Support made me stand straight... And I walked without Fear...

I scribbled on my notebooks... You made me sit by your side... You Recited poems, Drew Flowers for me... I learned the pleasure of Reading...

I was a nuisance at the Dinner table... You got up early... You took the pain of cooking Delicacies for me... Everyday, without fail... I enjoyed the Best Food on this earth...

I came back from the school, eyes wet with tears... You understood I had a fight... You remained silent, and made me rest on your Shoulder... Your silence Comforted my Soul...

I told you a lie... You got me at the very moment... You scolded for my behavior... I became angry... You Reasoned with me... I never repeated the mistake in my life...

I packed my bags for the hostel... I got frightened at the thought of leaving home... You told me Stories how you fought with adversities... I became Brave...

I came to a new city... Unknown of what's in store for me there... I got confused... I called you up... You Advised ways to work out things... I felt Home...

I felt lonely, missed You all the while...You rushed to my place, just to be my Company... I felt happy with the thought of Having the Best Gift sent to me by God...

Ma, You are always there for me at every footstep. Be it a happy moment, or a tear-filled one. Be it my mistake, or I am being wronged upon. Each time I look around me, You are the first person standing by my side. THANK YOU for being my Friend, Philosopher and Guide. THANK YOU for being such a lovely Mother. THANK YOU for being 'You'.

(Dedicated to my first love -  my Beautiful Mother.....................)

BIRTHDAY BASH.............. :)

Three days back was my li'l sister's birthday. That small kid who used to roll up on my belly and tickle me hard, turned fifteen last Thursday. As usual, I took all the responsibilities of arranging a small party for her. My first priority was to get the most suitable gift for her. I raked my brain hard, and then thought of buying pearl earrings. Then I ordered a chocolate cake for her, which is the most favorite thing in her life :). I invited all her friends and our relatives for a small get together. On the big day, leaving a 'Happy Birthday' message on my sleeping beauty's aka sister's cell, I started off early for my office. My intention was to finish off with my work quickly and leave the office early. Hopefully, everything went smooth, and I was done with all my work by the afternoon itself. I took a cab and returned home. On the way I also picked up a Jumbo-sized, musical greeting card from Archies .

As I reached home, my mother was already well prepared with all the home-made Delicacies for the guests. My father followed shortly after me, carrying the cake and goodies. Everything was set. The house was nicely decorated by lights, wall hangings, frills and balloons. My sister looked like an angel in the new dress she was wearing, and with my newly gifted pearl-drops on her ear. Soon the guests started coming in good number. The environment was filled with laughter and merriment. Everything went nicely. My angel got a lot of gifts to keep her busy with. Food was the best part of that evening. Everyone returned to their homes with a big smile on their face.

The party was a grand success. All my efforts to make my dearie little sister happy, actually rewarded me back in a good way.  :)

WHAT IS THIS LIFE, IF FULL OF CARE, WE HAVE NO TIME TO STAND AND STARE....

The buzzwords of today's world are 'Rat Race'. Each one of us is tirelessly engrossed in the hard task of 'Meeting the Target'. But many a times, in the pursuit of the Goal, the Goal itself becomes bleak. Rather, we lose our Focus, in the never-ending quest of achieving the Best. We continuously endeavor towards getting 'Something' (even we are not aware of exactly what that can be) that should be more rewarding, as compared to what others are getting.

The endless rat race, somewhere down the line, separates our true selves from us, leaving behind a Human-Robot. This mechanical human-robot is programmed just for a single task. 'Run'!! Without even stopping to see when and where that race is going to end!

Nowadays, we have lost the right to stop for taking a heart-full of fragrance of our favorite flower. We cannot even stop to take a look at the little toddler playing in the park. We have no time to lie down on our cozy couch and get lulled in a deep sleep, caring the least for this world...
We have lost the habit of spending time to appreciate 'The Beautiful' around us. We are no more interested in giving hours, humming the tunes we love and penning our heart out. We have forgotten when was the last time we had actually enjoyed our meal, savoring every bite of it. Also gone are the days when one would spend the entire day, doing nothing, but thinking of the beloved. The significance of mother's soft touch on our hair, sister's naughty pokes on our belly, friend's usual crap advices have ceased to dwell in our thoughts. The world has entered a robotic era, clouding the softer side of every individual.

As intelligent beings, we should ponder on this very fact. Where do all these lead to? Doesn't it indicate to a future consisting of Mechanical Beings who are devoid of feelings, incapable of considering anything on the lines of emotion, perhaps compelled to run towards the 'Target' only, without even knowing what it is?

I think it is high time to work on ways to control this blind race, and find solutions to bring a balance to our lives! Best wishes for your efforts towards this ;) ...............

FINAL RENDEZVOUS.....

Alone
and lonely....
I just stop by,
To say 'Goodbye',

To none else
But to me.......

Heart full of words,
Eyes full of tears
Facing for the last time..

None else
But only me.....

Devoid of colors
Drained of love
Little is left
of my Soul..

Drenched in the rain
Burnt in the sun!

I cry out
and Howl..

But..
no one to hear my pain,
No one to embrace me hard..

So here, I walk alone..

Saying 'Goodbye'
for the very last Time

To none
But to Me.......

A BEAUTIFUL DREAM.........

You are here, very near
to my heart and me.

A beautiful smile
on ur lips
And your face
full of bliss

Hands stretched forward
only to reach me.

You took my hand in yours
You looked into my eyes

Your warm breath
on my hair
Your soft murmur
in my ear.....

You wiped the tears
from my face
You curled me
in your caring embrace.

You lulled me into sleep
Your voice, so intense and deep.

Is this real,
or a dream of mine?
So vivid, so natural, so divine!

RELATIONSHIP SIMPLIFIED................<3<3....................!!

RELATIONSHIP... A word with a simple definition... Yet a complicated meaning it holds in our lives...... There is hardly any person who can claim to understand the complete meaning of this word..... And maintaining a relationship perfectly, or rather to say ideally, is a distant dream in everybody's life..

Most of us fail to understand the core ingredients of a perfect relationship... Be it the affection filled father-daughter relation, or the romantic relation of two love-birds, or the evergreen 'will stand by your side' relationship between two buddies..... Each of them has something in common, fueling the very need of the relationship.. Any imbalance of these factors and, WHOOSH!!!!!!!!......... A straightaway deterioration in your relationship with your loved ones.......

If we try and explore the main factors which may lead to a PERFECT RELATIONSHIP, all will come up with different views... So without going in any such controversial details, lets try and explore the reasons which may be the main players behind any unsuccessful relationship..

First of all, comes the DEVIL-est of all, that is DECEPTION... This perhaps, has the most devastating effect on any relationship.. Then comes, not so innocent, EGO.. When ego gets involved in a relationship, there are actually four people, instead of two, trying hard to maintain their ends..... POSSESSIVENESS is yet another factor leading to consequences like OBSESSION, SUSPICION and MISUNDERSTANDINGS, which further aggravate a relationship... Then there are miniature factors like lack of adjustment, lack of quality time given towards a relationship, contradicting views on different issues etc. which may look as MINIATURE, but are actually far worse than the above mentioned reasons..!

So, IN BRIEF, for a relationship to be successful, the main focus should be on how one can stick together... TRUST and HONESTY are the keywords behind this!! None can be selfless enough, but yes, getting rid of your ego, will certainly make your base stronger in a relationship... And in order to do complete justice to any relation, one should be open enough to accept the other with his mindset, even if it takes a little compromise from either ends...

All these will definitely lead to a HAPPY RELATIONSHIP, if not a perfect one!........................ :)

NEED VOICES AGAINST INJUSTICE...........

Let me share with you the most bitter experience of my life till date, which I faced yesterday......

A sudden increase in our hostel fees recently, has led many of the hostelites like me to search for accomodation outside the college. Our search was for a good and secure place to live and that should be affordable. Eventually it seemed that my search has ended when I found a good house for accomodation, though at a slightly higher price, Rs.1700 per month. Everything seemed fine. I and my room-mate promised the landlady to pay the advance, Rs.6800 on the very next day and also let her have a conversation with my mother over phone. As promised, I went to their home next day with the money. But then the actual drama started. The landlord started showing many of their extra expenses and asked for 100 rupees more. As I was not ready for that, he promised to give me back my advance money for rent, if my parents, after meeting them do not find the rent affordable. Meanwhile, on that day, I got to know about another house at a much affordable price, Rs.800 only, and also at a safer place.

Next day of these events, that is yesterday, my parents came and confirmed the second house for accomodation as it was a better option. So, as promised by the first landlord, I went to his home to get my money back. But instead of giving it back, he started abusing me with all sorts of offensive languages. He also denied that he promised to give me back my money if I was not willing to stay their. He insulted me in all possible manners and called me names. Also he insulted me on the name and standard of my college. I was asked to leave their house immediately and come back with my mother to get back the money. After an hour, when I again went there with my mother for the money, we were not allowed inside the house for quite a long time, and were made to stand under the scorching sun. Then the landlord came with another person of his society and asked us to come in. He started narrating everything to that person in his own modulated version. And in the middle of his talks, see the audacity of the person, he was constantly using abusive languages against my mother and my family!!!! He didn't return even a single penny and insulted us in all possible manners. We were forced to leave his place empty-handed, losing our hard-earned 6800rupees.

Now, it is my question to all my friends of BCET, being insulted by a so-called educated localite, that too on false grounds, and being denied of my own money, should I keep silent just because I am a student and he is a local person of this place???
What would you do if you were in my place??????
As one can't fight for these sort of things alone, how much support can I expect from you in this matter????

If voices are not raised against these kind of things right now, in near future, there can be many BCETians like me who will be harassed in one or the other way, by these kind of people, and will have to suffer injustice just because they are students and are not localites of this place.....

Common Indian Women : The other name of dynamism

INDIAN WOMAN - portrayed as the NATURAL HOMEMAKER. But lets stop and ponder over one question. Does she play any other roles beyond being homemaker? The answer is a big YES. Perhaps the best synonyms that can be given to womanhood are versatility and dynamism. Today's Indian woman acts as a multiplayer, playing a variety of roles, at home or outside. Even the women from the past, who got opportunities to prove themselves, were seen coming up with flying colours, be it Laxmibai, Sarojini Naidu, Junko Tabei, Indira Gandhi and so on.

Woman has always been the chief architect of her home, which she nurtures from a scratch. She tries to redefine not only the home in which she lives, but also the world that surrounds her. A woman cares for her children as a loving MOTHER, for her parents as an obedient DAUGHTER, for her husband as a dutiful WIFE, for her friends as a COMFORTER and SYMPATHISER, for her colleagues as a fellow CO-WORKER, and for everybody else surrounding her. She never complaints about the versatile personality that she has to bear. But it often happens that the multi-tasking facet of a woman goes unnoticed. She rarely gets any credit for the dynamic roles that she plays throughout her life. In India specially, this is a pretty big problem, prevailing in almost every nook and corner of the country, be it in a small village of Pondicherry or in a metro like Kolkata.
Every year we celebrate WOMEN'S DAY on 8th of March at an international level. But does this celebration in our country signify anything? Is it worth it's name?
We often end up here hyping for the upcoming female enterpreneurs, actors, sportsperson or political leaders and idolise them as a part of Women's Day celebration. But what about the rest of the women of Indian society, hailing from typical middle class families and lower income groups? What about the women who toil day and night to arrange food for her family? What about the women who daily sacrifice their comforts and face hardships, only to bring smile to the faces of her loved ones? Their efforts and sacrifices are seldom recognised. A housewife who works hard to manage her home and keep everything in order, is almost as competent as a lady working in a multinational firm as an HR Executive. But the housewife, despite of being almost equally capable, does not get that much importance as the HR Executive. She is simply taken for granted, who is meant to work for her family fulfil her duties silently. A father from a middle class family is often with a view of getting his daughter married to a wealthy and prosperous groom, and devote very little time, thinking about her basic education and higher studies.
Though the scenario in our country is changing presently (thanks to the NGOs and non-profit organisations), but there is a long way to go. The Indian society will have to break its orthodox conception about women, especially those belonging to lower and middle class of the society. It's high time to give recognition to their dedicated efforts. The Indian people will have to understand that supporting feminism and celebrating Women's Day does not merely mean encouraging and hyping for the elite class ladies, but also motivating and supporting the efforts of the common women from all strata of the Indian society. And it is the responsibility of those women to prove themselves, to achieve success in whatever role they play and to make themselves worthwhile of this recognition. Then it will call for the real celebration of WOMANHOOD in India.
